Getting a Degree is More Affordable than You Thought
Considering the current job market many people would like to take this opportunity to improve their education level. But the looming question plaguing many is “How can I afford school?” It’s not as difficult as it seems.
While higher education is costly, the initial price you see for most schools is nothing more than a starting point. Don’t rule out a school until you’ve checked with their financial aid staff. Be sure to fill out a free application for Federal Student Aid (the Department of Education uses this to determine your aid eligibility). It’s helpful to note other financial stresses impacting your situation such as job lay-offs, medical bills, etc.
And don’t forget about scholarships. FastWeb.com and Scholarships.com are two great resources to search for scholarships you can apply for. Check with organizations and groups you belong to, they may offer scholarships to members. Some employers will offer tuition reimbursement if the education is work related.
Student loans are another great option. You can generally get lower rates with this type of loan and they usually do not need to be paid off until you’re finished school.
